RAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA presents ROUSING ROMANTICS


Rousing Romantics, a symphony concert presented by Rand Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Carel Henn promises to be an afternoon well-spent listening to spirited music, filled with passion of the performers Critically acclaimed young South African pianist Peter Cartwright will be showcasing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto no. 1 accompanied by the RSO. Peter has performed at numerous festivals and concert venues in South Africa, and internationally. A Double SAMA award winner, he is equally comfortable in solo and chamber settings, and holds a strong commitment to performing South African music. He currently serves on the staff of the music department at the University of the Witwatersrand. He holds a PhD from the same institution. The programme for the afternoon also includes Beethoven’s exuberant Symphony no. 1 and Tchaikovsky’s delightful Capriccio Italienne.
