MANDELA DAY CELEBRATIONS


Mandela Day Celebrations at Roodepoort Theatre

As part of the nationwide Nelson Mandela Day centenary celebrations, the Roodepoort Theatre will bring joy, happiness and laughter to the less fortunate children by hosting a fun filled day for children on the 21st  of July. The event will start at 8am in the morning and ends at 1pm in the afternoon.

On the day, we are expecting 400 children who will enjoy themselves by watching a movie in the auditorium and playing on the jumping castles. The children will take part in face painting transforming their faces into butterflies, cute cats and dogs. Theatre Stages Restaurant will spoil children with sponsored treats of Sausage rolls, ice-cream, sweets, snacks and milkshake.

Youth and community groups will be offered a platform to showcase their talent in music, poetry, dance and drama. Some of the groups that will perform include, Young voice academy and purge media. All the entertainment will take place on the mobile theatre truck and the best performers for each category will receive prizes.

Our state of the art entertainment truck has a fully equipped stage, functional dressing rooms, powerful PA and sound system.

The Department of Health Region C will conduct voluntarily screening for high blood pressure, diabetes, Cholesterol and HIV-Aids.

Government department that have partnered in this event include, South African National Blood services, Johannesburg Metro Police Department, Emergency medical services and Fire Department.
