Region C Arts & Culture Main Festival
Region C Arts & Culture Main Festival is proudly brought to you by the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, City of Joburg and Roodepoort Theatre
Region C is one of the most diverse regions in the City of Joburg, situated in the west side of Johannesburg this region is rich in history and heritage and is multi cultured with a strong background. Despite all these traits the region is yet to tap deep into its Arts and Culture reserves, although the region boosts a theatre in its mist artists in the region often find expression outside of the region and do not have a platform to showcase their talents in the region.
The Region C Festival is aimed at closing that gap, and providing a platform that will uncover and unite artists from within the Region C. The festival will show case the best that the region has to offer in arts.
The festival will focus on four main art disciplines, Music, Theatre, Poetry and Dance.
The main festival will take place on the 22nd of June 2018 at the Roodepoort Theatre. While auditions were held throughout Region C wards in September 2017 until April 2018 and the best three acts groups in each category will contest for the regional prize.
The regional festival is a first of its kind and the aim is to turn it to annual festival that will promote artists in the region. Region C has a rich pool of talent, this festival will attest that, and further assist us in uncovering more raw talent.
We believe that this festival will uplift our local artists and give them an opportunity to showcase the best of what the region has to offer.
