Roodepoort Dance Festival

The Roodepoort Dance Festival provide a public platform for dancers to exhibit the dance talents of amateur students in the city of Roodepoort.

Roodepoort dance festival committee proposes to:
1.Further promote the art of dance in all forms within the City of Roodepoort, by creating a greater public awareness and appreciation of local talent.
2.To maintain and improve the standard of dance within the City of Roodepoort.

Roodepoort Dance festival has been running for 37 years and is held annually.
Genres such as Ballet, Spanish, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop and Cheerleading compete every year.

Last year, different studios entered in the festival with over 2000 entries.
Some of the studio which take part in the festival include, Move Dance Studio, Feather broke Dance Academy, Snap Back Studios, Blink Dance Studio,
Wilcarina & Annebelle’s School of Dance, Sue Emery Dance Centre, Laurie Active Dance, All Star Dance AcaDemi, L’Academie De Dance, etc

In 2017, Roodepoort Dance Festival hosted a Gala Show in Aid of dancers love dogs with all the proceeds going towards mass sterilization of dogs.
Dancers love dogs is a non-profit organisation supported by dancers and performers who collaborate to make a difference in the lives of animals.

Roodepoort Dance Festival has raised R24 200 in aid of Dancers Loves Dogs and Community Led Animal Welfare was elected to receive this money to aid sterilisation of local animals.
The dance community also came together to collect more than 350 kg of dog food as well as some blankets and treats.
